REININGER TASTING ROOM
WALLA WALLA, WASHINGTON
Boxwood was asked to design a new tasting room in an existing space at Reininger Winery. Already finished were the reclaimed wood floor and walls complete with doors and windows. Missing was a tasting bar, back bar and retail display, storage and a seating area. The new tasting bar was made from reclaimed wood taken from the old potato barns now housing the winery. The wood frames an inset of woven grape vines to add texture, detail and a direct reference to wine. The tasting counters were made from indigenous basalt columns and the balance of the countertops are zinc. Two, top accessed refrigerators keep both red and white wines at the ideal tasting temperature. The custom built back bar contains reclaimed diamond bottle storage racks owned by the family.
